After everything we’ve been through in 2020, we’re more than ready to celebrate the joy of the holiday season!
Kelly Clarkson is right there with us. She has been muddling through the pandemic with everyone else, and now she’s giving her fans the gift of a brand new Christmas song.
“I have a couple Christmas songs dropping that are very random,”she told Today. “Fans have been asking like, ‘Can you just drop anything? Everyone is sad. Everyone is feeling it. The world has gone to crap, like can you just release something?’â€
And Clarkson is never one to let her fans down! She wrote a new Christmas masterpiece called “Under the Mistletoe” with country singer Brett Eldredge. The two of them gave their debut performance on NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” program last week, and now Clarkson has brought the fun to “The Voice.”
The delightful number seamlessly blends old and new sounds, and Clarkson and Eldredge totally nailed their duet! Of course, Eldredge is no stranger to holiday music. He released his first Christmas album, “Glow,” in 2016. As for Clarkson, her sixth studio album back in 2013 was a holiday collection called “Wrapped in Red.”
While she’s not planning to make a holiday album this year, she is releasing “Under the Mistletoe” and a recording of Vince Vance & The Valiants’ “All I Want for Christmas Is You” to tide her fans over until her new album drops next year.
“So just give them something a little bit here and there,”she said. “That’s the cool thing about being in the artistic world, you get to maybe bring a little bit of sunshine or distraction or hope in a time where you need it most.â€
This is such a great song, and Clarkson and Eldredge sound perfect together! It’s definitely a bright spot in what has been a challenging year.
