Adam Lambert and Avicii put some serious funk down with their collaboration on “Lay Me Down,” and the American singer honored that with a groovy performance of their hit at The Avicii Tribute Concert. Lambert hit the stage in a fabulous pink suit and put on a real show for Avicii’s fans at the concert with an energetic stage presence. He was clearly having a ball getting the chance to sing the disco number again, and fans loved celebrating the work of Avicii with the talented star.
“Lay Me Down” has some seriously sky-high vocal runs, but of course Lambert was all over it, sailing through the lines like it was nothing. It’s impressive how effortless he can make such a demanding vocal part sound, while also delivering a smooth and lithe tone. He definitely brought the star power to the stage at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, and the sold-out 55,000-strong crowd sent a whole lot of energy right back to him.
Lambert’s live take on “Lay Me Down” is one of several popular videos from the Avicii Tribute Concert, and attracted 3.3 million views on YouTube. Fans loved the show, adding comments such as “Adam’s one of the only singers that sounds better live than on a recording, that’s talent right there. My fav singer of the decade hands down – glad he got a chance to work with Avicii” and “What a performance! Can’t stop watching! Adam showcasing his extraordinary vocals and strutting that stuff!”
Avicii, who was born Tim Bergling, died on April 20, 2018, at just 28. Chic guitar great Rodgers added his signature funky electric guitar to the song, which is always guaranteed to take a song to the next level.
“Lay Me Down” dropped on April 21, 2014, and the song was certified Gold in Sweden, as well as hitting the top 10 in several European markets.
