A young woman, once labeled a “wolf girl” and “monkey face” by her peers, knew that her condition would not prevent her from finding happiness. Finally, she found the love of her life, and her story reveals the profound impact that encounter had on her.
Supatra “Natty” Sasuphan, who was once labeled the hairiest girl in the world, faced embarrassment and fear of bullying from her classmates due to her appearance
On August 5, 1999, something momentous happened in Supatra’s family. Normally, when a baby is born, the parents feel very happy and excited. It was no different for Supatra, Sompon and Samrerng.
But the couple’s happiness was mixed with surprise, fear and disbelief when the doctor told them that the baby had a lot of body hair. At first, they thought it was normal, but when they saw her in the incubator, they were shocked by the amount of hair. Almost all of Supatra’s body was covered in hair, and even doctors in Thailand had never seen anyone like her.
Doctors later discovered that Natty had a very rare skin condition called . This condition is so uncommon that there are only 50 documented cases like hers worldwide.
Ambras syndrome causes excessive hair growth on the body, probably due to a sudden change in DNA, except on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet and inside of the mouth.
When Natty was born and her mother wanted to leave the hospital, the doctors refused to allow her to leave the baby. Sompon told the doctor that she would never abandon her daughter, no matter what happened. She Said , “We are lucky that she was born into our family . ”
Natty grew up in a loving family, but not everyone understood her condition, and she had to deal with rudeness from strangers and classmates .
As Natty grew older, her face was hidden behind thick hair due to incurable Ambras syndrome. Regular methods, such as laser hair removal, failed to slow the hair growth. At school, her unique appearance was a source of ridicule. Children called her nicknames such as “wolf girl” and “monkey face.”
Natty, however, did not understand why they were teasing her, as she considered herself a normal girl, just with a little more hair on her body. She even declared : “ That’s just how I am.”
Natty’s teacher, Kuljira Posaeng, revealed that the other children were initially intimidated by her appearance, making her early days at school difficult. However, over time, Natty proved to be just like any other student. Teachers described her as hard-working and good at grades, and she eventually became one of the most popular kids in school.
Teachers confirmed that Natty was a lively girl who loved to sing, dance and do theater. Her parents always treated her like any other child and never made her feel less important. They took her everywhere and were not ashamed of their daughter for being different from other children.
Later, Natty found her love
Natty accepted her condition, understanding that there was no cure for it. So she decided to keep the body hair that had grown naturally since birth, removing it only from her face when she entered adolescence. As she grew older, her self-esteem and self-image became more important to her, and she also found love.
Natty shared : “It started as a friendship, then we became a couple.” Talking to her boyfriend brought her happiness, and being with him did her a lot of good, as she felt a love that always seemed impossible to her: “It was a passion, a love that I didn’t expect to happen to me . ”
Natty later married her boyfriend and calls him “the love of my life.”
She also posted photos with her beloved, showing her hairless face. Some people thought she might have healed, but her father explained that his daughter chose to shave her facial hair to reveal her new appearance. Now, her eyes, face, mouth, lips and cheeks are visible, with her hair covering only her forehead with a cute fringe.
Natty, who has found love and happiness, is determined to lead a positive life and continue to make a beautiful impact on society. She believes that everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way and wants to inspire others to embrace their individuality and radiate their inner beauty.
