Tammy Slaton is celebrating a significant milestone in her remarkable weight loss journey. The star of 1000-Lb. Sisters recently shared that she has lost a total of 500 pounds since beginning her transformation.
In an inspiring TikTok video posted on August 17th, set to Andra Day’s empowering song “Rise Up,” Tammy proudly showcases her progress alongside six other “weight loss warriors.” The video highlights the collective achievement, revealing that together, they have shed an incredible 2,078 pounds.
Tammy expressed her admiration and gratitude in the caption, writing, “Truly absolutely amazing ladies, and I’m happy to call y’all all my friends. I’m so proud of each and every one of y’all. Not only are you beautiful on the inside, but you’re gorgeous on the outside. Never forget.”
Tammy, who stars alongside her sister Amy Slaton Halterman on TLC’s 1000-Lb. Sisters, has been open about her health struggles since the show premiered in January 2020. After undergoing bariatric surgery in July 2022 and spending 14 months in a weight loss rehab center, Tammy has committed to sharing her journey both on social media and television. By December 2023, she had lost 48 pounds, adding to her impressive overall weight loss.
Beyond the physical changes, Tammy has also spoken about the positive impact her journey has had on her mental health. In a February TikTok video, she shared, “Before I went to rehab, I was just bitter, unhappy, and very suicidal depressed. I personally have seen a lot of growth within myself and how I treat people and my family. And just my attitude and how happy I seem. I smile a lot more.”
Tammy has celebrated many other accomplishments along the way. She joyfully recounted experiencing things she once thought impossible, saying, “I actually got on rides [at Disney World]. And I rode in a hot air balloon. I value life now, where before I hated it. I hated everything about life.”
Her openness in sharing her journey has resonated deeply with her fans, who have been moved by her transformation. One fan commented, “Holy wow! The transformation is incredible! I am so happy to see how far you have come. I may have cried a little.”
Tammy’s journey has been closely followed by her fans since 1000-Lb. Sisters began airing in 2020. After her bariatric surgery in mid-2022, she continued to document her progress, revealing that by December 2023, she had reached approximately 285 pounds, losing a total of 440 pounds.
Throughout her journey, Tammy has shared various snapshots of her life, from posing in a floral dress in June to a group photo with her brother Chris Combs and YouTuber Chelcie Lynn. However, the year also brought heartache.
On July 1st, Tammy mourned the loss of her husband, Caleb Willingham, posting on Instagram, “Rip, sweet angel, you will forever be missed and loved so much. Thank you, Caleb, for showing me real love and happiness.”
Despite the challenges, Tammy’s journey has been one of triumph. In April 2024, after sharing new selfies, her weight loss surgeon, Dr. Eric Smith, praised her progress, commenting, “You are killing it!”
Tammy’s journey is a powerful reminder of the strength it takes to transform one’s life, both physically and mentally. Her story continues to inspire many who are facing their own battles, proving that with determination and support, anything is possible
