SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Six people – five women and a man – were shot and wounded in South Los Angeles and police are looking for three suspects who fled the scene in a vehicle, police say.
The shooting was reported just after 3 p.m. Wednesday in the area of the 400 block of W. 74th Street.
Police reported five women were shot ranging in ages from 40 to 62. A 36-year-old man was also shot.
At least one of the victims was initially described as being in critical condition and the others in moderate condition. A later update from LAPD said all victims were in stable condition.
They were described as being shot in the lower extremities.
It is believed the victims were all on foot at the time of the shooting and were likely not the intended target, though police have not said who the actual target may have been. Three suspects pulled up in a vehicle and opened fire then fled the scene, police say.
Police were taping off a crime scene in the street.
There were more than two dozen evidence markers indicating bullet casings on the ground. Police said from the types of casings it appeared more than one weapon was used.
At least two vehicles at the scene appeared to have sustained gunshot damage. One sedan displayed multiple bullet holes along the side body and at least two in the front windshield.
Investigators are looking for a dark-colored sedan that fled the scene. It is believed there were three suspects inside.
