Fallen Hero: Community Mourns Officer Phylicia Carson’s Tragic Loss

A devoted police officer and loving mother of six lost her life in a heartbreaking incident during a high-speed pursuit. Officer Phylicia Carson, 33, of the Osage Beach Police Department, was on duty in the early hours of Sunday when tragedy struck.

The pursuit began when Officer Carson noticed a vehicle speeding along a rural road near the Lake of the Ozarks. Committed to upholding the law, she activated her emergency lights and attempted to pull the driver over. But instead of complying, the suspect chose to flee.

As the pursuit intensified, Officer Carson’s patrol car lost control, veering off the road and crashing into a tree. The impact was catastrophic, causing the vehicle to burst into flames. Tragically, she did not survive the crash.

Meanwhile, the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer, continued his reckless attempt to evade authorities. However, he later crashed and was taken into custody. The Missouri State Highway Patrol has since taken charge of the investigation.

Meanwhile, Christopher Wehmeyer now faces a long list of charges, including resisting arrest, fleeing law enforcement, and causing the death of a police officer. He is currently held in Camden County Jail without bond, awaiting further legal proceedings.
