From Julia Roberts’ iconic Armani suit at the 1990 ceremony to Taylor Swift’s dreamy Gucci gown at last year’s event, these are the most unforgettable Golden Globes looks of all time.
These fashion moments from The Globes are oh so golden.
The annual Golden Globes ceremony is no stranger to iconic red carpet looks. In fact, many of the stars who work the red carpet ahead of the celebration of film and TV go down in fashion history.
Case in point: When Julia Roberts wore an oversized Giorgio Armani suit—necktie and all—to the 1990 ceremony, her nontraditional outfit choice made her one to watch on the red carpet for decades to come.
“This was one of my all-time favorite outfits for the Golden Globes,” the Eat Pray Love actress told Vogue in January 2024. “I did my hair, my girlfriend did my makeup and I got this suit from Armani in Beverly Hills. I went into the men’s department, and they had an in-store tailor, and they tailored it to fit me.”
While the then-22-year-old took home the Best Supporting Actress award for Steel Magnolias that night, the talk of the town was her legendary suit.
“I could not have known that it was going to become this statement outfit,” she continued. “I just thought I looked fabulous, and I still have that suit.”
And fab fashion looks are still a regular occurrence at the Golden Globes. At the 2024 ceremony, Taylor Swift wowed in an iridescent gown from Gucci. For accessories, the Grammy winner—who was up for for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour—even more sparkle by wearing dangly diamond earrings by De Beers.

And one year prior, Rihanna—who was nominated for Best Original Song for “Lift Me Up” from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack—may have ditched the red carpet, but she stunned inside the 2023 event in a black Schiaparelli gown. At the 80th annual ceremony, we had love on the brain for the Fenty Beauty owner’s bold look that featured black velvet gloves, Cartier bling, a bejeweled Roger Vivier clutch and Giuseppe Zanotti heels. But the showstopper was no-doubt her voluminous black cape that she wrapped around her shoulders.
And those aren’t the only noteworthy fashion moments. For the best Golden Globes looks of all time, keep reading.
