Terrifying moment shark tries to bite diver’s head off in shocking footage

One diver came close to death when a shark decided to try and bite their head off in a video that has been leaving people terrified.

The deep ocean is pretty terrifying since you can’t really see what is lurking in the deep, which is why most people tend to simply steer clear.

Divers are an exception but are also aware of the potential dangers the activity carries, especially if they don’t follow the rules.

A Chinese diver reportedly had a brush with death when approached by a tiger shark at a popular Maldives dive-site.

According to a Divernet report, the incident happened earlier this month on 15 November at the site known as Shark Tank at the reclaimed island of Hulhumale near the capital Male.

The group had decided not to use one of the local dive centers that offer diving at the location and are thought to have arrived on a speedboat.

They allegedly used bait to help attract sharks to the area, even though shark feeding is illegal in the Maldives.

Unfortunately, this seemed not to play out in their favor as a shark nearly bit a divers head off as it passed by it. The diver is reported to have required more than 40 stitches after the incident and his condition now is not clear.

It is believed the diver was wearing an orange ‘Nemo’ fish-shaped neoprene headgear and it is possible this may have confused the shark and sparked the attack.

In the past, divers not following the rules of the region have been left with serious injuries, with some even being eaten, according to the divernet article.

A video of the moment has already begun circulating on social media with some Reddit users claiming they are never going to enter the ocean again and I don’t blame them.

One user commented on the diver’s immediate reaction and said: “For folks that don’t know that’s scuba hand signal for time to get the f*** out.”

Another said: “TIGER SHARK?!?!

“They are one level below bull sharks in terms of aggressiveness, and they went in with bait and fish-esque diver costumes?????

“This almost became a r/ Darwinawards post. That guy is lucky to be alive!”

A third wrote: “Yeah, after that experience there’s no way I would go in the ocean again. Hell I wouldn’t even take a bath.”

And another added: “I’m not interested in meeting anything in the wild that has a mouth my head could fit in.”
