Kelly Clarkson Transforms Wizard of Oz Classic into a Bond-Worthy Anthem, Proving She’s Still an Idol Champion

In anticipation of the screen adaptation of the 2003 Broadway hit Wicked, it seems everyone is getting witchy. Wicked is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and tells the origin story of Elphaba and Glinda. Of course, we’ve always known them as adults and the role they played in Dorothy Gale’s adventure in The Wizard of Oz. While they were off to see the wizard, the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Lion traveled along the yellow brick road singing cheerful tunes. They accompanied Dorothy to the Emerald City singing happy songs. Kelly Clarkson performed her version of If I Only Had a Brain from The Wizard of Oz during a recent Kellyoke segment, and it took on a whole new vibe. The dark lighting, deep vocal tone, and slowed-down tempo made for a chilling rendition.

Fans Loved Kelly Clarkson’s Take On “The Wizard Of Oz” Classic.

There’s no question Kelly has an incredible talent, and we love it when she takes the mic to show off her vocal chops. Kelly Clarkson’s musical stylings never let the crowd down, whether it’s her music or a hot take on a classic.

The Kelly Clarkson Show shared a video of her Wizard of Oz reboot, and fans thought she absolutely slayed.

Several people thought it sounded like a James Bond song.

“Kelly on Broadway WHEN. Kelly on James Bond soundtrack WHEN. Kelly on EVERYTHING WHEN,” a fan agreed.

This person felt Idol vibes. “Just won ‘American Idol’ again.”

Maybe this means something new is on the horizon. This fan hopes so, “This was SO GOOD . We’re gonna need Kelly to just go ahead and do another dark and moody album soon…kthanx.”

We never knew the Wizard of Oz could be so moody, but put Kelly Clarkson in charge, and suddenly, we want to take a walk down the yellow brick road.
