In 2018, Michael Bublé released a touching cover of Kris Kristofferson’s “Help Me Make It Through The Night”, which featured the accomplished American singer Loren Allred. After her success with The Greatest Showman, it only made sense that she would be discovered by Bublé to collaborate on a beautiful duet.
Put simply in Michael Bublé’s own words, the song is about two needy people who realize that they do not do very well on their own. The song has a sad undertone to it, but it also makes for a perfect duet when we consider that it can be sung from the perspective of two people with the same ideas. When Bublé and Allred’s voices come together, you begin to realize that this song truly is meant to be a duet! Listen to the incredible performance, with commentary from Bublé, in the video below:
Loren Allred’s success, and the opportunity to perform with one of Canada’s most loved and well-known singers, is largely thanks to her time working on The Greatest Showman. The song that she performed in the musical, “Never Enough,” became certified platinum and hit number 88 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Not bad at all for a musical debut! Since then, she has released her very own EP titled Late Bloomer and now regularly embarks on tours with none other than Andrea Bocelli.
Michael Bublé’s unmistakable and soft voice has been the perfect conduit for covers of much-loved classics throughout his career. Some of his biggest songs are reworks of popular hits, which include Frank Sinatra’s “Come Fly With Me”. The moment that made him a superstar, however, was in 2000 when he was introduced to producer David Foster after performing at the wedding of the former Canadian Prime Minister’s daughter.
In addition to her accolades with The Greatest Showman and performances with the likes of Michael Bublé, Loren Allred has also had a stint competing in talent shows. She auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in 2022, where she finished in ninth place. Simon Cowell was slightly perplexed by her competing, however, given that she had performed one of the biggest musical songs of the last few years.
In response to Simon’s comment, Allred said that for a time she preferred to be ‘behind the scenes’, but now would like to put a face to the song and, presumably, become more of a prominent musical figure.
