Adam Lambert’s Hauntingly Powerful Performance of “New Eyes” on Ellen Marks the Epic Return of His Solo Career, Teasing a New Era with the Upcoming Album Velvet

Ready or not, Adam Lambert is making a triumphant return to his solo career. Earlier this month, the singer announced a new era of his music with the bewitching song “New Eyes” and teased the upcoming release of his new album Velvet. Now, he’s showing the world what they can expect from his new era.

Lambert appeared on the latest episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform his new single. Clad in a ’70s velvet suit, complete with an oversize purple carnation and some gigantic bell-bottoms, the star crooned his way through the song as the adoring audience cheered along. “Everything gets you high, baby/ I’ve been so blind without your new eyes,” he sang.

In a recent interview with Hunger Magazine, Lambert detailed his upcoming album, saying that there were plenty of good reasons why it took him four years to finish. “I chose deliberately not to rush,” he said. “I wanted to experiment in the studio and work with writers — I reached out to people I’ve worked with before and lots of new people I met socially and I just started getting in the studio and coming up with songs.”
