The singer blew everyone away with her rendition of “What Was I Made For?” on her daytime talk show.
What exactly was Kelly Clarkson made for? According to her loyal fanbase, it’s her ability to absolutely knock any song she sings out of the ballpark.
The American Idol winner is famous for performing musical covers for her “Kellyoke” segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show, and she recently nodded to Hollywood’s biggest night with her choice on the daytime series. For the March 28 taping, Kelly decided to sing a rendition of Billie Eilish‘s “What Was I Made For?” from the movie Barbie (which won the 2024 Academy Award for Best Original Song).
Wearing a striking, red long-sleeved dress, Kelly portrayed all the emotions evoked by the song, which she performed with just a piano behind her. What’s more, the show’s social team picked up on the energy of the tune when they shared a clip of her performance online.
“Didn’t need to cry today but here we are 🥲,” read the official caption posted on Instagram. This content is imported from instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.
Between the nature of the song and Kelly’s ability to cause a stir with every track she sings on The Kelly Clarkson Show, fans were left tearing up after hearing her moving version performed on television.
“Tear ducts ACTIVATE 🫡,” one person wrote on Instagram. “Is there anything this girl can’t sing?? 🔥🔥🔥,” another replied. “Sorry @billieeilish this belongs to @kellyclarkson now 😂,” a different follower added.
It’s important to note this isn’t the only time the former The Voice coach has sung Billie’s songs on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Back in 2021, she performed a cover of the song “Happier Than Ever,” which she later recorded as one of the tracks featured on her 2022 EP titled Kellyoke. She also later used the song as part of her setlist during her Chemistry Las Vegas residency in the summer of 2023.
We’ll be sure to have a box of tissues ready before we tune in to her next Kellyoke!
